iiNet officially released new plans. For future reference here is a summary:
8 Mbps / 1Mbps service where available, 1.5Mbps / 256kbps otherwise.
plan | quota (peak+offpeak) | cost /month |
---|---|---|
starter | 1+1 | $49.95 |
light | 5+5 | $59.95 |
medium | 10+10 | $79.95 |
heavy | 20+20 | $99.95 |
All plans are available with double quota for $10/month less if you sign up for an iiphone bundle which is $29.95/month rental.
Currently the best value plans on the market by far. It will be interesting to see what this does to their ARPU. In a November 2004 roadshow presentation these figures were provided:
customer pool | Mar 04 | Jun 04 | Sep 04 |
---|---|---|---|
dialup | 17.7 | 17.5 | 17.9 |
ADSL | 64.5 | 64.9 | 61 |
voice | 25.9 | 25.1 | 24.9 |
Given the iiphone rental rate you'd expect some movement on the voice side. DSL is gonna take a slide but presumably costs are also falling.
Funnily enough the same preso mentions a new Category Killer bundle. I'm not much a fan of buzzwords but iiNet = winnah on this round of new plans.
Unrelated, Yahoo! bought UDP Soft who make ASE. Interesting to see us take a stake in this part of the games industry.
